I specialise in real estate law – particularly residential development. I advise house builders on all legal aspects of the acquisition and disposal of land for the purposes of development including options, conditional contracts, joint ventures and promotion agreements.
Profile
I started my legal career as a trainee at Rawlison Butler in 1995 and have been here ever since! I became a partner in 2003 and was appointed as Head of the firm’s Real Estate Team in 2010.
In my spare time …
Away from the office I am a keen footballer, playing for Old Dorkinian Football Club. I also enjoy playing golf and snowboarding but with a young family these are often hard to fit in.

How do you contribute to our Corporate Social Responsibility?
I was part of the Rawlison Butler 'Rowing Butlers' Team in the 2010 Charity Dragon Boat Race, raising money for St Catherine's Hospice.
What do you expect to be the most significant market trend in your area for the next 12 months?
This is a hard question to answer. Any trends will be dependent on the availability of finance from the major banks.
What has been the most memorable or challenging deal/case for you?
The most memorable deal for me was proving that a lease can be granted (and registered) out of thin air despite several well known city firms insisting that it was impossible.
