Expertise
I’m an employment law specialist, principally advising corporate and public sector clients and senior executives, but also employees, often with discrimination and whistleblowing complaints. I design and run training workshops and present at seminars and conferences across the UK.
Profile
After training principally in employment, I qualified as a solicitor in 2007 and joined the Employment Team at Rawlison Butler in 2008. My skills as a lawyer draw on 20 years’ commercial music/media, PR and charity management experience, as well as 5 years working in law with the British Medical Association, a major insurance company and most recently through training and practice as a specialist solicitor.
Memberships
I am an active member of the Employment Lawyers Association and the Industrial Law Society and regularly attend CIPD events as an Organisation member.
Public profile
I enjoy public speaking and often present at conferences and seminars, such as the CIPD national employment law conference, the Law Society’s Lawyers with Disabilities Division Conference and at the firm’s regular expert seminars.
In my spare time ...
I enjoy cooking and running, but not at the same time!
What I said when I was asked ...
How do you contribute to our Corporate Social Responsibility?
Running the London marathon for CLIC Sargent, the amazing charity that supports the families of children with cancer, was an experience I will never forget, or let anyone else forget…so I’m told.
What has been the most memorable or challenging deal/case for you?
Winning in the Court of Appeal before Lord Justice Mummery after a 3 year legal battle in a deserving pro bono whistleblowing case that I ran through the historic Toynbee Hall Free Legal Advice Centre is still the highlight of my legal career.
What I do to get myself thinking creatively
I make sure I enjoy what I’m doing and a creative solution usually turns up before too long.
