Expertise
I specialise in estate planning, which includes inheritance tax and capital gains tax planning, with a particular interest in estates containing agricultural and / or businesses assets. This work includes the preparation of wills and trusts.
Profile
I undertook my two year training contract at a regional firm in Kent before qualifying into their Wills and Tax Planning team in 2005. In 2008 I was promoted to team leader of that team. I then worked as an associate solicitor at a national firm based in their Southampton office before joining Rawlison Butler’s Tax, Trusts and Probate Team as an associate solicitor in 2011.

How do you contribute to our Corporate Social Responsibility?
Worryingly little, I sponsor other people heavily so that I don’t have to do so much myself!
What do you expect to be the most significant market trend in your area for the next 12 months?
Given the current financial situation in the UK I anticipate that changes in the rules relating to capital taxes, or at the least changes in the Revenue’s interpretation of these rules, are on the horizon.
What has been the most memorable or challenging client matter for you?
Assisting a farming family with the capital taxes and estate planning consequences of the residential development of part of their farm.
What I do to get myself thinking creatively
I have a very artistic family – thinking creatively is par for the course!
