I specialise in all aspects of commercial and business law, including drafting and negotiating commercial agreements/transactions (including distribution and franchising), EU and Competition Law, government related agreements/public procurement and international trade. I also provide the Corporate Team with transactional support such as undertaking due diligence exercises.
Profile
I qualified in 2002 into the Commercial/IP team of a leading regional firm. I subsequently spent time working in Brussels on EU and Competition law matters for two international law firms and have spent a year working centrally for the Government Legal Service. I have a Masters Degree in European Law obtained from the College of Europe in Belgium and I am a member of the firm’s inward investment and franchising teams.

I have had articles published on matters of European law and have presented on agency and distribution law at regional Chambers of Commerce meetings.

I play golf, cricket, travel and enjoy anything which involves an outdoor challenge, particularly overseas.

What have you done recently to help our corporate social responsibility effort?
Recently I was part of a team which represented the firm in the local “Crawathalon” triathlon event held for charity.
What do you expect to be the most significant market trend in your area for the next 12 months?
A spate of record UK and EU Competition Law fines at the end of the last decade is likely to see increased activity by regulators in this area during the decade to come.
What has been the most memorable or challenging deal/case for you?
Representing a well-known musician in suing several national newspapers as a trainee and assisting on the competition aspects of an attempted merger between two of the leading “major” music labels during the “music wars” midway through the last decade.
