About us

RB is a leading law firm and we pride ourselves on the quality of our work and of our people.

We all share one philosophy – we get right to the point.  For our clients this means clear, well-informed advice that works in the real world and from people they know.

Who we are

We’re a 75-strong team and growing, based in Gatwick and Horsham, and with the quality of work and level of expertise you would often associate with much bigger firms.  Many of our people have joined us from City practices or leading regional firms and are highly regarded in their areas of expertise.

Our specialist teams span everything from corporate transactions to property, employment to wills and disputes.   We gained our Investors in People (IIP) accreditation first in 2010 and this was re-assessed and renewed again in 2017.

Our people care about the work they do.  We make sure everyone is clear about their role, how to do it to their very best, why it’s important and therefore how they contribute to our overall success.  We want everyone to feel involved, valued, recognised and respected.

Establishing networks, sharing best practice, effective communication and looking for ways to improve how we work are just some of the ways our people engage to support each other  and contribute to our success.

We are committed to developing our people to help you meet your goals.  Many of our people are keen to progress their careers and a number of our partners, who joined originally as associates, have developed quickly to partnership.

We offer a fresh, exciting flexible place to work, we employ great people and are committed to development and career progression.  We regularly review all our salaries to ensure they remain competitive. We have a great range of benefits which include:

  • a minimum of 25 days leave
  • a day off to celebrate your Birthday
  • Health Care Cash Plan for all
  • Private Medical Insurance for qualifying roles

Thinking about joining us?

The thing I like particularly about working for RB is its friendly working environment, encouraged by the fact that the firm puts its people high on the agenda. We have an excellent staff benefits package in place, generous holiday allowances and there are no rigid working hours, allowing every member of staff to achieve the work/life balance that they want. More importantly, much of this has been achieved because the staff asked for it and the Partners were happy to listen. Everyone, regardless of their role at the firm, can have a say on how working life can be improved and their views are taken seriously.

The firm gives the flexibility to suit every individual and allow each person to get what they want out of their working life. The quality of work and calibre of clients is superb and every lawyer from the most junior upwards is trusted to take responsibility for those clients. Everyone is encouraged to take an active role in the development of the firm and fresh initiatives are always welcomed, with plenty of opportunity for career progression.

Employment Team

I like working at RB because as a junior member of staff I have always felt supported. I am learning all the time from a great mentor who I can always ask questions of no matter how silly. That said I am allowed to do my job and I never feel micromanaged. My job challenges me and it is always interesting work. All of this makes me grow as a lawyer. The teams are small and it is a close knit friendly firm. I have the freedom to express my ideas and this encourages me to innovate and makes me feel motivated. The firm’s flexible working policy means that I can determine my own schedule and achieve a better work/life balance as a result.

What do you enjoy most about working for Rawlison Butler? I love the fact that the firm is big enough to have all of the support you need, such as colleagues covering all of the main areas of law and good secretarial and administrative support, but small enough that I know everyone and can make a difference on a personal level.
