Mark qualified in 1988 and joined Rawlison Butler in 1997 from a regional law firm where he was a partner. He started his career in London, in commercial contract and information technology law. Mark has substantial experience in franchising, having acted for a variety of franchisors and franchisees over the last 19 years. In addition to franchise work, his portfolio includes work on agency, distribution, outsourcing and supply agreements, as well as UK and EU competition law. A member of The Society for Computers and Law, Mark also focuses on IT and e-commerce contracts as well as non-contentious intellectual property. He is a regular speaker on issues of agency and distribution, IT law and e-commerce.
His work has taken on an increasingly international flavour, advising significant clients in the travel, manufacturing, engineering, distribution and retail sectors.

Alexandra Lloyd-Foster - Associate, Real Estate |

Alex joined the Real Estate team at Rawlison Butler in 2006 and was promoted to Associate in 2007. She deals with all aspects of commercial property work particularly landlord and tenant, property investment, acquisition, disposal and management, finance and funding and property related aspects involved in franchising. Alex has advised significant UK clients within the retail sector and is currently advising a major regional client who is in the process of expanding nationwide through a franchise network.

Kay Miles - Associate, Commerce & Technology |

Kay completed her training with Rawlison Butler and qualified as a solicitor in 1999. She is an Associate Solicitor in the Commerce & Technology team and specialises in commercial contracts and information technology, as well as advising on intellectual property and e-commerce law matters. In addition to extensive franchising experience, Kay advises on a broad range of commercial matters and agreements, including agency, distribution, competition law and data protection.

Richard joined Rawlison Butler in September 2005 from one of the country's leading franchise firms. Although Richard predominantly specialises in corporate law, he has a wealth of experience in franchising matters, for both franchisors and franchisees. This ranges from establishing franchise operations (including complex joint venture and shareholder arrangements) to buying and selling franchise businesses. Richard's other work covers M&A, the corporate aspects of property development projects, limited liability partnerships, general corporate governance and business start-up advice.
