Tim is head of the Corporate Finance and Commercial Department. The Legal 500 recognises him for his corporate finance skills. Chambers UK guide consistently ranks Tim in the top tier for the South East, and has described him as an “enthusiastic and effusive guy, with a good commercial sense… a man who can get things done”.

Tim has an active private equity/mergers and acquisitions practice with particular sectoral focus on TMT and e-commerce. A frequent advisor of management buy-out/buy-in teams, he has a realistic and forthright approach to such transactions. More recently he has developed a strong reputation in the area of outsourcing, which has yielded a number of substantial transactions.

Abigail Owen has been part of Rawlison Butler LLP’s Corporate team since 2000. She qualified as a solicitor in 1998, having trained with a London practice. Prior to joining Rawlison Butler, Abigail worked for a leading regional law firm, where she specialised in corporate and commercial work.

Abigail has experience of dealing with all aspects of corporate law work, including mergers and acquisitions, share and asset sales, management buy-outs and buy-ins, shareholder and joint venture arrangements, venture capital investments, limited liability partnerships and corporate governance work. She has developed a proficiency in transactional work in a range of sectors. Abigail was promoted to Associate in 2005 and was made a Partner of the firm in 2006.

Andrew joined the Corporate team in March 2007 as a Senior Associate and was appointed Partner in April 2008. He trained in the City and spent the first ten years of his career there, primarily at Nabarro Nathanson, before leaving to become a founding member of Vertex Law in Kent, where he headed up the Public Equity team. Andrew has a broad experience of M&A work of all sizes and has also worked on a large number of public equity transactions particularly on AIM.

Andrew is a keen sportsman playing football or cricket most weekends, he is also Chairman of Old Dorkinian Football Club. He has recently taken up clay pigeon shooting and plays the odd round of golf if he can fit it in.

James joined Rawlison Butler in 1984 and became Senior Partner in 1999. With extensive experience in corporate acquisitions and disposals, and a particular focus on exit and succession strategies, James is recognised as a leading corporate lawyer in the top rank who has also built up a solid practice in international and cross-border corporate work. He stood down as Senior Partner and ceased to be a member of the LLP at the end of June 2007. James continues to support the work of the Corporate team in the role of Consultant.
