Qualifying in 1991, Martin joined Rawlison Butler LLP in March 2007, having been a Partner in a leading South Coast firm of solicitors and also having worked as a Senior Solicitor for a major High Street bank.

Martin specialises in all aspects of Inheritance Tax, estate and trust planning, together with Court of Protection work and wills and powers of attorney. He states that his practical approach to the law is to try to make sense of it for his clients, giving constructive, commercial and pragmatic advice with a sense of humour, and a deep commitment to providing the best service available. Martin's background in private practice and in a major financial institution has given him a broad experience upon which to draw when advising his clients.

A keen sportsman for many years, a serious knee injury meant that Martin's playing career ended, but an armchair fan he remains, particularly of cricket and rugby. He is at heart a family man, spending much of his spare time as a taxi for his 3 young children, walking his two dogs and holding the punch-pad for his son as he learns Tae Kwon Do.

  Nigel Winter

After qualifying in 1995, Nigel gained extensive experience in family and personal injury work. Increasingly his divorce and family clients are of a high net worth requiring a constructive and commercial approach to settlements. Nigel’s approach emphasises the imperative of the clients to appreciate that they make the decisions after receiving comprehensive advice. The service is then tailored around the specific instructions unique to each individual client. A good listener and always prepared to negotiate, Nigel still engages in complex battles in court if no alternative to reaching a settlement can be found.

Nigel is active in the local business community and has been quoted in a professional capacity
in both The Times and The Independent. A personal profile of Nigel recently appeared in Timesonline and he has contributed articles on divorce and family law to both Sussex Life and Surrey Life magazines.

In his ever decreasing spare time Nigel is an occasional motorcyclist
