| Rawlison Butler LLP, in the Community
Rawlison Butler LLP has recently supported an exciting creative community project in association with Central Sussex College and Crawley Borough Council’s Arts & Business programme. Highly regarded photographer, Magali Nougarede was invited to participate in a residency at the Rawlison Butler Gatwick office, observing and capturing, in a series of photographs, interesting aspects of the lawyer's environment. The project was run in parallel with a photographic project at Central Sussex College, and photography students were invited to Rawlison Butler’s offices to view and discuss the final images.
Magali Nougarede is a French born photographer, who graduated from the Sussex based University of Brighton. She has been involved in many photography projects both within the community and overseas and has also taught part-time at the University of Brighton. Commenting on the community project, Magali said, “inherent to my way of thinking is the interaction with members from the local community and through this the realisation of portraits with a universal feel”.
Magali’s approach was to take a wider interpretation of ‘portraits’ whereby photographs were taken as portraits of the office environment itself. The commissioned photographs provide a visual ‘story’ of the workings of the office and are now displayed in the reception area of Rawlison Butler’s Gatwick office as well as the Hawth Theatre, Crawley and in a scheduled exhibition at Central Sussex College.
Stuart Evans, Business Development Partner at Rawlison Butler LLP commenting on the project said, "we are delighted to have been involved with this project and to be associated with the very good work done by the College and Council locally, and by Arts & Business in the region. The support and interest we have had on this project has been exceptional, and it is an added bonus that the partners and staff embraced Magali's work with such enthusiasm. The reception pictures will be a timeless reminder of a positive contemporary experience".
