Divorce and separation - frequently asked questions

Question

My ex’s new partner is mistreating the children.  What can I do?

Answer

Sometimes a letter to your ex will be sufficient but where it is not, there are a number of tools under the Children Act which you can use to obtain Court Orders for helping to protect the children.

The tools that are available under the Children Act to ensure that children are not mistreated are Specific Issue and Prohibited Steps Applications.  An Application can also be made for residence and to prevent change of a child’s name or removal from this country without your consent.
