Engineering disputes
We represent a number of major international companies in the automotive and engineering sectors, as well as several smaller national companies.
In addition to assisting those clients with their general contractual disputes, our team also has a great deal of experience in dealing with claims relating to allegations of negligent service work, product liability claims, allegations of negligent design or inherent defects, and alleged failures to adequately warn/train end users in relation to potential safety issues.
Examples of some of our recent engineering matters include:
- representing an international engineering client in relation to allegations of negligent service work and negligent design arising from a marine engine failure
- acting for a contractor in an ICC arbitration in relation to a contractual dispute arising from variations in soil conditions revealed during the course of the construction of an off shore power station, leading to additional costs and time being incurred in relation to alterations to the foundations of the construction project
- acting for an international engineering company in the Technology & Construction Court in respect of a claim for negligent maintenance brought by the site owner of an electricity plant
- representing the manufacturer of bespoke specialist industrial equipment in relation to a claim that the equipment was defective and not fit for purpose
- acting for a supplier of industrial equipment in relation to a claim for negligent maintenance work which allegedly resulted in a plant fire.
